You might also want to check out Exploding Kittens currently the most backers a Kickstarter campaign has ever had. They created a game for their stretch goals - some based around the game - all using social media - my only complaint was they were not good with including complete instructions at time of goals (do better if you choose some form of this). They weren't the first to use some of the goals they included (FB likes/Twitter followers/etc.) but they took it to the next level. No reason not to borrow some ideas from them - don't imitate but get creative.

I'm thinking you could do some kind of picture game as well as #follower goal on Instagram. I'm not quite sure how the game would work but you don't want to make it too easy as you want lots of social media attention. Offer it as an earlier stretch goal. Possible awards:
1. Storage box for coasters
2. Gift box for coasters
3. Hints/tips wallet card for taking pictures for Instagram
4. Hints/tips virtual PDF "booklet" for printing Instagram photos
5. 20% discount on future orders good for x years
Might also think about a wall of backer pictures - a Survey Monkey vote on whether backers would like one of their pictures up with their names.
Try thinking outside the box. You are doing something with photos. How can you use social media & photos for fun with backers to get people drawn into your project? Get them sharing photos they'll be putting on coasters on media just for fun. What else could they/you do?

39 hours left. Check it out. Some early bird packages still available. We're working on a stretch goal.

As contests are against the Kickstarter rules, I'm assuming a share incentive would be an update to 'backers only'?TashaTurner wrote:I'm with Greg on this. Losing money on stretch goals can put a project in jeopardy.
Instead you could offer an "Instagram photo tips & tricks" PDF at the 1st stretch goal.
You could do a sharing incentive - bring in 5 backers at x level and above & get 1 free coaster - have a special email setup for them to send name of people they referred and/or for referal to drop you a note with who referred them.

Oops I won't recommend that again. I've seen a number of share & you get x on Kickstarter - time for me to reread the rules.

Dunno about the Rules, but I've backed a couple of projects where if I did such-and-such advertising and then sent a link or photo back to the Creator to prove I'd done it, I got some small bonus for free. I would think that model would be acceptable (I have NOT read the Rules recently!) as it follows the same logic of $X gets you Y reward. Doing X activity gets you Y bonus.
However, a model based on the RESULTS of that advertising (have people you refer tell the Creator that you sent them to earn some bonus) I could see being treated differently. I might post to my 13 Twitter followers and not generate any traffic while you post the same message to your 13,000 Twitter followers and generate 100 new Backers. We did the same thing, but you got a reward and I didn't.
Somewhat of a Catch-22. In the first case, you could end up passing out a lot of bonuses without any positive results, whereas rewarding just the results in the second case, might run afoul of the Rules.
YMMV, and, as I said, I haven't read the Rules recently so I may not have a clue what I'm talking about.
