Opus gel™ is a visco-elastic polymer that:
Our initial feedback from health professionals and therapists confirms our Opus gel™ wrap will dramatically improve the treatment and prevention of muscle and joint injuries.
Opus gel™ is made in Canada and is approved by Health Canada. We are currently awaiting FDA approval, but this won't delay shipping after the campaign!
Your very own Opus gel™ wrap will arrive in a resealable bag for easy freezer storage! Check out our packaging below!
The word opus is often used to describe a creative work of art. A masterpiece. Our Opus gel™ is unique and was produced after considerable research and development. We believe the name Opus gel™ is a ‘fitting’ choice.
Technically speaking, our Opus gel™ has a relatively high coefficient of thermal conductivity. This means that when your hand (or any part of your body) comes into contact with our gel, heat moves from the warmer body part to the cooler gel, thus your hand feels cool.
The debate between hot and cold therapy for the treatment of injuries will likely continue among health professionals for years to come. Regardless, we prefer cold therapy (but don’t worry, your Opus gel™ wrap can also be used hot as well). Heat therapy is often recommended for more chronic types of injuries, whereas cold often helps with pain relief and relaxation of muscle tissue.
Compression helps to reduce swelling. Plus, studies have shown that cold treatment is more effective in combination with compression!
You will be amazed to discover your Opus gel™ wrap will stretch up to 10 times its’ usual length and will always return to its’ original length. It is this pliable property that lets you vary the amount of compression that you desire, and it still works when the Opus gel™ is either hot or cold.
A long time. Similar gels have withstood 20,000 deformations and have not been damaged. We have subjected our Opus gel™ to most cleaning products, including full strength bleach, with no adverse effects.
It's simple - just use soap and water, or even a stronger disinfectant for a deep clean!
Your Opus gel™ wrap will be a length that we believe will accommodate most people. However, it can be cut with scissors to a length or width that works better for you. In the future, we plan to produce more sizes and colours. What do you think?
Another 'cool' feature: cut a small hole in one end of the wrap so it can be used as an 'anchor' for easy wrapping of certain body parts! Oh and Opus gel™ sticks to itself, so it's very easy to apply and stays snug in place. How 'cool' is that?
It really is art meets science!
It starts with a mixture of ingredients (shhhhhh.....that's our secret), then heated to about 350 degrees. It is poured into a mold and once cooled Opus gel™ will always remain, or return to, its’ poured shape.
Opus gel™ is skin-like in texture and sticky by nature. Sticky is good for a wrap, and simply washing it in water will keep it this way. Rubbing Opus gel™ with talcum powder will eliminate the stickiness, if you prefer.

Five of the six members of our team have been the lead on individual successful start-ups across a variety of industries. This diversity of backgrounds allows us to draw from each others experience and grow as individual entrepreneurs, and as a company.
The only new business man on our team is Dr. Mike Holmes, a PhD in Biomechanics and Ergonomics. Dr. Mike founded and runs the Neuromechanics and Ergonomics LAB at our local university. The lab sounds fancy and it is...and because of it we have the scientific data to explain the unique performance of our compression wrap.
Enter the clinician...Dr. Kris Edwards. An entrepreneurial chiropractor and owner operator of a multidisciplinary health care clinic in Oshawa. He may not love research and crunching data points the way Dr. Mike does but he has a passion for helping his patients. The symbiotic relationship between the researcher and the clinician is strongly present and it has driven a lot of the research and development behind this new and innovative medical device. The Opus gel™ Compression Wrap has been field tested with rave reviews.
Our CEO Bob Macmillan is the youngest old person of the group. He really wants to be fishing, but his hands are full keeping the crew reigned in. Most recently, Bob was VP Admin of a national public affairs/public relations firm, prior to that he was assistant director of an adult training company. Realizing the Opus gel™ Wrap will have significant impact on the health and wellness segment. Bob has additional product launches on the drawing board...fishing is on hold for now!
Peter Davidson, our Chief Marketing Officer, is a seasoned strategic marketer that questions EVERYTHING! He even has an MBA that he earned before the guy who created the internet was even born. That's right...he had to wear pants while learning. Peter's diverse work background includes engineering, Group VP of Marketing and Sales, small business owner/operator, start-up consultant...and more recently he has been concerned with medical device innovation and development focusing on issues affecting a person’s wellness.
Our Chief Operations Officer, Jason Thomson, is also an entrepreneur who runs his own business. Jason's experience in manufacturing, production planning and logistics has made him the "how to make it happen" guy. As a sports enthusiast, he has already reaped the benefits of the Opus gel™ Wrap. The Wrap has soothed many minor injuries...now goalie Jason just needs something to help stop the pucks!
