About this project

You need to be able to use your Apple Watch at all times. Nothing is more frustrating than a low powered or empty Apple Watch. It's probably going to happen more often than you would like it to and charging your Apple Watch on your wrist is impossible. With the AWDock you cancomfortably use your Apple Watch during charging.

Most scratching happens when you put down and pick up your watch. After some wearing, your watch bands will form around your wrist, making it impossible to charge it flat. You will have to charge it on its side, with a lot more risk of scratching. The AWDock helps to keep your Apple Watch free from nicks and scratches.

Easily read notifications on your desk without the need to wear your Apple Watch, or the need to get out your iPhone.

Docking and undocking with the AWDock is quick and requires fewer actions than charging the regular way. The standard Apple Watch charger works with inductive charging, and MagSafe is incorporated in the AWDock. Simply put your watch on the AWDock to dock, and lift it off to undock.

The AWDock is specifically designed for Apple Watch, to compliment your watch to its fullest. From the start, we implemented a minimal design, and used high-quality materials and finishes, the same as Apple does for their Watch, making the AWDock an extension of your Apple Watch.

A good product is elegant and simple without unnecessary parts which would distract from the design. We designed the AWDock in a way that it holds the Apple Watch charger without screws or clamping parts.

The charger is fully incorporated into the design and fixated with a microsuction pad. The charging cable is designed into a concealed undercut cable channel in the top part of the dock, so it's invisible on the front or top. These features allow you to enjoy the design of the AWDock and Apple Watch to its fullest, and be proud displaying it anywhere with or without your Apple Watch.

Aluminium AWDock. Due to the incorporation of the charger cable, the dock has a complex design and 5-axis CNC machining is required to manufacture it. It is machined from a solid block of aircraft grade aluminium. The aluminium edition is first polished to ensure that all small imperfections are gone; then, micro glass pearl blasted and clear anodized.

Stainless Steel AWDock. Stainless steel in addition to aluminium is much harder to machine, CNC machining it from a solid block is very expensive. Therefore, the stainless steel AWDock is precision casted in high-grade 316L stainless steel, the same alloy that Apple uses for its Apple Watch. After casting, it is 5-axis CNC machined to ensure high precision. For the finish, no expenses are spared: the AWDock is hand polished to achieve a top-quality mirror finish.

Gold AWDock. The gold edition is in the basis the same as the stainless steel AWDock. To achieve a shiny gold finish, the polished dock is first nickel plated to create a barrier that prevents the gold plating from fading. The AWDock is then heavy gold plated with 18 karat gold to accomplish its luxurious finish.

Tooling, production, and fulfillment are expensive. Funding all upfront produces too high a risk for a small company like ours. We need your help, your pledge, and your support as Kickstarters, so that we are able to manufacture the AWDock and get it in your hands to enjoy as soon as possible.

The costs of development and prototyping are covered. Cost for tooling will also be covered. Directly when we reach the funding goal, we will start production of tooling, so the molds can be finished at the end of the campaign and production can start immediately after. The sooner you pledge, the sooner we reach our funding goal, the sooner we will start production.

The development of the AWDock is almost finished, and manufacturers, and fulfillment partners have been selected. The last step is to finish the design of the recess which accommodates the charger. This will be done in the first weeks of the campaign.

To reach our funding goal, we need as many backers as possible. Please help us spread the word by telling your friends and family, and by sharing this page on your social media.

Shipping is FREE for all backers no exceptions. We made this possible by setting up a network of fulfillment centers around the world and are shipping the docks in bulk to them directly from the manufacturer. For example, pledges for the United States are dispatched to fulfillment centers in the United States and shipped from there to the backers, pledges for the countries in the EU are shipped from within the EU, and so on per continent.

Free shipping also means no unexpected import duties and taxes for the countries we fulfill from. It is very annoying when you receive an international package from a backed Kckstarter and then you have to pay import duties - and this happens more often than you would actually want it to. There are no unexpected charges for US, Canada, EU, China and Australia because we import the goods for fulfillment to those countries and pay the import duties and taxes beforehand.

Directly when we reach our funding goal, we will start production of tooling so the molds are finished at the end of the campaign and production can start immediately after.

The Apple Watch charger is placed in the AWDock in a precision machined recess without effort and is fixated in place with a microsuction pad. The bottom of the dock is also lined with a microsuction pad to keep the AWDock firmly in place when docking and undocking.

Pledge our campaign so we can make the AWDock a real product for you and other people to enjoy. Thank you for reading and please share this project with your friends, family, and on your social media.
