MOSCASE ACTIVE BACKPLATES

Each active backplate has its own distinct purpose that completely reimagines what smartphones are capable of.

The First Active Backplates. These are early concepts. Final designs are subject to minor alterations.

The Breathalyzer

You can never have enough cool sensors! The Breathalyzer is equipped with a special detection sensor, capable of analyzing your breath in order to determine the alcohol content in your body. The Moscase App will let you know what your allowed limit is based on your location.

The Rocker

For all you music lovers out there, this backplate upgrades your smartphone’s stock speakers with ones that rival most full range Hi-Fi systems. Enjoy listening to your favorite music the way it was meant to be listened to.

The Collector

Harness the power of light and extend your smartphone’s battery life with this solar cell equipped backplate. It’s functional, it looks cool, plus it’s environmentally friendly. What’s there not to like?

The Booster

Strapping on some extra juice can be a life saver in a lot of situations. Top that off with extra storage space for all your photos, documents and other media, and you’ve managed to beef up the two weakest aspects of smartphones.

The Reader

E-paper has two advantages over any other screen: it’s super easy on your eyes and its power consumption is practically non-apparent. Read notifications, display photos, or use it for reading books and articles.

Just swap them out on the fly! Easy as that!

Every Moscase comes with a free passive backplate, which is an optional add-on that offers a bit of extra protection, or just completes the look for those of you who prefer to cover the back of your smartphones. Our active backplates, on the other hand, offer extended functionality for Moscase users.

In order to attach these backplates to your smartphone, we've developed a bumper with a simple but sturdy mechanism. Think of this bumper as the centerpiece of Moscase, to which you can attach various backplates quickly and easily. But we couldn't possibly have developed a simple boring bumper. No way sir! The Moscase bumper is actually a fully functional product on its own, that lets you track your wellbeing using its built-in sensors.

OUR STORY

The two most common accessories that people buy for their smartphones are cases and Wellbeing accessories. Moscase combines these two in a single elegant format. It is the most intuitive way of monitoring your health, while also offering premium protection for your precious smartphone.

Wellbeing has never been more popular, thanks to the ever growing palette of health accessories available on the market. We want to contribute to this revolution by offering a device that expands upon the capabilities of common wellbeing accessories, offering new types of bio-measurements previously unseen in such devices.

CONCEPT

So why use an additional wearable accessory when you already have a device more than capable of being the most powerful tracking tool you’ve ever owned? Smartphones are extremely powerful tools and are capable of a lot more than taking pictures and handling social media. Moscase is a professional health accessory to those who find wearable devices a little clumsy or obtrusive, or perhaps their wrist is already occupied by jewelry. It works by becoming an integral part of your smartphone and turns it into a health-monitoring workstation, and it does this intuitively and unobtrusively. Simply monitor your wellbeing without even noticing that you are doing so!

IN-DEPTH

Moscase has four super hi-tech compact sensors built inside it in various strategic points that enable users to collect a broad spectrum of data, giving a detailed representation of their health and wellbeing.

Optical Sensor

Capable of measuring your heart rate and oxygen saturation. It works by visually detecting tiny motions in your finger’s arteries.

Heat Sensor

Primarily used for measuring your body temperature, however it is capable of measuring any heat source between 32 and 212 Fahrenheit (0 and 100 Celsius).

Impedance Sensors

These sensors are our pride and joy and represent the core idea behind Moscase. They are so unique that we had to create them from scratch. Yes, that’s how crazy and dedicated we are! They work by sending a teeny-tiny electromagnetic current through your body (don’t worry, it’s perfectly safe). They are capable of measuring your stress level and body-fat percentage depending on how you hold your phone.

Hardware Connections

Moscase connects to your phone via the Lightning Connector for speed, reliability and energy efficiency. It doesn't use wifi or bluetooth for data transfer.

COLOR OPTIONS

As much as we would love to begin production with all eight colors, we are planning to cut it down to four for the first run based on our pledgers' request.

iOS APPLICATION

A big part of Moscase is how tightly it is integrated with its dedicated Moscase App. This is where users get to take advantage of all the awesome features, get regular health updates and personalized tips on how to stay healthy.

Have you used other popular applications in the past? No problem! The Moscase App is capable of importing your existing data from Apple’s Health App and from a number of other popular health / wellbeing applications.

We are talking about real everyday applications, an extra battery being one of the simplest and most popular choices among users. But do you honestly need that extra battery every single day in every situation? If you had the option, wouldn’t you swap that battery to something more useful? Say a speaker? Or an e-paper display? Or how about a better camera? Or you might want to add some additional sensors, further expanding Moscase’s original functions. The possibilities are truly endless!

This is merely a dream with our current budget, and we need your help and support in order to make this happen!

By the way, this is exactly where our name comes from. Moscase combines the three words that best define us: Modular + Smart + Case = Moscase.

WHY WE ARE ON KICKSTARTER

Moscase is an amazing concept product with a very wide feature palette. We are planning to come out with tons of modular active backplates in all eight color options. Understandably, this can only be achieved with careful planning and research. Being on Kickstarter is a great way for us to see which color options and which active backplates have the highest demand, so that we can begin production focusing on those for our first run.

WHERE WE’RE AT

So far we have managed to finalize all hardware decisions. We have settled on all the final materials and components for the bumper itself, and already have our first prototypes for testing to see if we need to make any final alterations. Currently we are busy developing the Moscase application and will shortly begin our thorough beta testing.

We are desperate to begin developing our active backplates as we think it would truly take our current product to the next level, and the potential this concept holds is nothing short of mind boggling. But like we said, it is merely a concept at the moment, unless we manage to get the support of all the awesome people out there who believe in what we do.
