Our Goal:

The idea behind Baku is to create a relaxing beverage that uses Kenyan ingredients. Our team is committed to the notion that you can create a high quality, healthy product that fosters a positive relationship between Kenyan Farmers and our customers.

Our Product:   

Baku is a cold brewed relaxation beverage that uses fresh tea leaves. Sampling Baku within our community, we have received wonderful feedback. Some describe Baku as a sweet-tea that uses substantially less sugar, some thought of it as a hybrid tea with juice flavors. One thing that remained constant is that BAKU TASTES GREAT!

Our Difference:  

Each can of Baku features a blend of over 10 different tea leaves. Although Baku is sweet, it has only 6 grams of added sugar. Our Team:

Our Story

Our team met in college, where consistent all-nighters drove us to find a better alternative for coffee and energy drinks. Either in a moment of creative genius or our sleep-deprived mania, we decided to cold brew Kenyan tea. We add a mixture of organic juice and a combination of matcha, chamomile, hibiscus and passionflower. Our goal was to reduce our stress and remain focused for studies. The Baku recipe proved to be a wholesome and nutritious answer to our abuse of coffee and energy drinks. We found it difficult to find Kenyan tea in the market. In fact, it’s almost desperately under represented. By supporting us you are supporting ethically sourced, healthy and delicious ingredients in every can. We can hand out samples all day, but with your help we can increase our production and take our passion for tea to the market!

Where will the money go: 

We are already a licensed business in the state of Maryland. However, we have run out of our own money for our operation. We are initially asking for $5000 USD to cover the bare-bones essentials to begin our operation in earnest. 

This will cover:

· Bulk ingredients ordered from Kenya

· Our packaging which include cans, lids and labels.

· Filling the liquid into the cans.

· Nutrition tests, barcodes, and other essential regulation labels.

As more money is raised, we can further subsidize our costs, scale upwards, and realize the possibility of new flavors that we have been tinkering with. It is our end goal to be able to sponsor larger social initiatives with the Kenyan farmers that we rely upon!
