We’ve designed a beautiful bag to combat these all-too common crimes, to ward off thieves and opportunists while providing an elegant and functional bag that’s perfect for travel or everyday use.
We’ve made our way through several bags that promised to protect our things, and they fall apart in a matter of months. Caught out in a sudden downpour? Everything in your bag soaked and damaged. And worst of all: over time the material rips and falls apart leaving you in a pickle.

Born out of necessity, the Arden Cove Anti-Theft Crossbody is a beautiful, functional, and sturdy day bag designed for the tasteful modern woman. With extreme attention to functionality and durability, the Anti-Theft Crossbody is made to not only protect your belonging from people who want to take it from you, but also withstand the climates and stress bags undergo while in everyday use or while traveling.
Arden Cove started with two sisters who wanted to make bags they couldn’t find on the market. Tired of poorly-made or cute-but-useless bags. We wanted bags that were beautiful and functional. Bags that would endure the abuse we put our belongings through day in and day out.
Over several months we’ve gone through many prototypes and iterations. We’ve refined our core vision for what the Anti-Theft Crossbody can be while also making something beautiful and functional suitable to a wide range of uses. All of this hard work and effort has led us to the bag you see here. The perfect companion for every-day use or the on-the-go traveler.
Every single feature you see on the Arden Cove Anti-Theft Travel Crossbody has been purposefully built and extensively tested for optimal functionality.
Full Body Anti-slash
Most “Anti-theft” bags currently on the market are actually only anti-slash on the bottom portion of the bag. That doesn’t protect you if a thief is standing behind you on a crowded bus and decide to do a little digging with a pocket knife. While we still suggest you to keep your bag in front of you in crowded areas, even if you get a little distracted looking at the Mona Lisa, our bag is protected from all sides, so thieves can BACK OFF!
Cut-proof strap
Having a anti-slash body is no use if a thief just cuts the strap and makes off with the whole bag! Our strong, chainlink strap will deter thieves targeting purses with thin leather straps.
Detachable Strap
The Strap also clips open so that you can wrap it around your chair at a restaurant or a pole on a train. That way they can’t grab or kick the bag. While it’s not a lock, thieves are looking for easy paydays, so if they see that your bag is attached, they’ll move on to an easier target.
Lobster Clasp Zipper pulls
Sneaky little fingers might try to pull a zipper or two open. Our clip zippers will lock onto the metal clip, deterring potential thefts from trying to open your bag. Chose to use it all the time, or lock up when you’re in a crowded area.
RFID protection
The built in wallet provides RFID protection, which means that tech-savvy thieves won’t be able to pick up your private information with RFID readers.
Waterproof Body & Zippers
Even if you’re caught in a sudden downpour in the middle of a rice paddy in Bali and still have to walk 30 minutes back to your hotel (true story), your valuables will be protected! Not just water resistant, our bag is 100% waterproof with a waterproof nylon exterior and waterproof zippers. So never fear a sudden change in weather, or you know, someone spilling their drink on you (also a true story).
Comfortable Padded Strap
The chain strap comes with a microfiber vegan leather pad for added comfort. Rather than transitioning the strap from chain to leather, which can be easily cut, the pad wraps around the chain. It is also adjustable up and down the chain to find a comfortable position for you.

Arden Cove was founded by two sisters born and raised in San Francisco, California. Ever since we were little, we always found projects to work on together: baking cakes, making clay models, building a website. Our DIY attitude drove us to continuously ask ourselves what we wanted, and how to make it better. We haven't stopped since.
We are dedicated to making delightful functional bags that solves problems. Earlier this year, we launched our Daily Laptop Backpack. When we were contemplating our next bag, we turned to our shared love of travel and started dreaming up the Anti-theft waterproof crossbody. After months of iterations, we have arrived at our dream bag, and want share it with the world.
Carmen always found startups scary and fascinating, and is interested in all things entrepreneurial and tech. While working as a Program Manager for the Ads API at Twitter and with a long history in performance marketing, she’s always tinkering with something in her free time, including making home-brewed Kombucha, programing games, and is now taking on the challenge of running a business!
Karin is the creative one in the partnership. With a double major in Fine arts and Art History and a background in graphic design, photography, and film/publications, she’s obsessed with creating bags that not only look nice, but are also functional and practical. True to both sisters’ maker mentality, she had created over 145 videos for her educational art history channel, Little Art Talks on YouTube.
WHY INDIEGOGO?
We are launching on Indiegogo to raise the funds to meet our minimum order. We want to make sure it's a bag you'll love, so we are excited to have this direct relationship with you through this platform. By raising funds directly from customers, we can ensure that the bags are what you are really looking for, and build our product with the support of an engaged community.
Risks and challenges
The Arden Cove team has experience in manufacturing, logistics, and product design. We do not anticipate any major problems in the production or being able to deliver the Anti-Theft Travel Crossbody on time. If any major concerns regarding design comes up, we will be sure to address it as necessary.
MANUFACTURING
Our factory is located in China. We have personally visited and developed a strong relationship with the factory for the past 2 years, and have collaborated before on our Daily Laptop Backpacks. We tested with other factories when producing the first Anti-Theft Waterproof Crossbodies, and we ultimately came back to our original manufacturer due to their quality craftsmanship and reliability. In the event of substantial demand for the Anti-Theft Travel Crossbody, we are confident our factory will be able to ramp up production and deliver on time while maintaining the quality they are known for.
We are in constant communication with the factory and will personally be on-site for material sourcing and to oversee production and solve any problems in person.
