  By crafting our shoes with our own team and selling them directly to you online, we're putting more into the quality of our leather, the craftsmanship of our shoes and the lives of our artisans.

Layer 1) Full length toro leather insole. Unlike the typical synthetic substitute, a real leather insole wicks away moisture, keeping your shoes dry and odor-free. Our insoles also conform to the shape of your feet. The result is exceptional comfort and fit.

Layer 2) Moccasin Construction Genuine moccasin construction means that leather wraps all the way around the foot.  In typical construction, synthetic fabrics and boards cement to the bottom of the shoe and give it a rigid structure and lack of comfort. The inside bottom of our Zeeva shoes are all part of the same toro leather you see on the top, so they add to the comfort and fit you will experience.

Layer 3) Complete Leather Outsole or Midsole.- For some styles we use an amazing leather outsole with a rubber insert for grip. When we do not use a leather outsole (see The Dalton and Dover), we always replace it with a real thick leather midsole to maintain the luxury of 3 layer of leather under your feet. Our midsoles boost outstanding performance. In todays massive corporate world most manufacturers use plastic or cardboard midsoles, or bring their costs up to over $300 per pair.

OUR STORY

I started working in the leather industry more than 15 years ago, as a supplier to some of the finest manufactures in the world. One of my greatest joys was seeing the leather transformed into beautiful shoes. I grew interested in developing richer, more naturally beautiful leathers, and creating footwear of my own design. This passion has been shared and supported by Zeeva’s co-founder Mariu Saad. As an artist she wanted to express her love of nature and art, and contribute her unique style and vision to Zeeva Artigiani.

Our philosophy is that shoes are important to everybody’s life. They must be well made, and inspire a unique sense of style and personality. We wanted Zeeva to offer classic designs, reimagined with the same premium leathers that we would use for own friends and family.

It was also very important to us to make these shoes in North America, and improve the lives of the brilliant artisans who sew them. In 2013 we pull all of our savings together and decided to start a small manufacturing operation in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, alongside some of the highest quality brands in the world.

We started our journey with genuine moccasin construction, a traditional method for hand-making shoes. Instead of using synthetic fabrics, our artisans craft a single piece of leather that wraps completely around the foot. The artisans also use the disappearing art of hand-sewing with an awl and needle, instead of using cement adhesives. This allows them to compensate how the leather stretches, and create a near perfect wrinkle-free leather around the seam.

Mariu and myself have assembled a team of hand-sewers to craft these shoes, and teach the process to younger artisans. By commiting to quality, tradition, and passion, Zeeva Artigiani will keep these techniques alive for generations to come. The result is exceptional luxury footwear, crafted from some of the finest leathers in the world.
