For the past 15 years there has been an average of over 10 million car accidents per year in the U.S. alone (U.S. Census Bureau 2012). Of course not every accident is severe and thank goodness most are minor fender benders BUT there are quite a few where the car occupants can get stuck in their cars due to cabin intrusion which can obstruct the seatbelt release button or occupant injury. A study of 1981 crash statistics by Michigan University's Transportation Research Institute concluded that deaths from fires accounted for 3. 6% of passenger car occupant deaths and drownings for 1. 4% of occupant deaths. One may be lucky enough to avoid being in any serious accidents in their lifetime but may still be "lucky" enough to come upon an auto accident involving others where they may have to make the decision whether or not they can lend a helping hand.
Below is a picture and link to an article from February 19, 2015 where police were unable to rescue a woman trapped in a submerging vehicle by using their batons to break the window and finally smashed it with a nearby rock with about 40 seconds to spare!

The Auto Safety Re-Usable Glow Stick/Flashlight is now available in two colors. These unbelievable glow sticks have a flashlight, color flasher or steady-on color glowstick. These also have a built in survival whistle and replaceable batteries so they're not simply thrown out when the batteries run out after the 200 hour life.
To obtain one or two of these amazing sticks, simply increase your pledge by $6 for one, $10 for two or $14 for 3. Don't change your original pledge selection, just increase the dollar amount of your pledge by the specific amount. At the end of the campaign I will send out a survey asking you which colors you would like.
