The Story Tree is a hand-drawn realistic family tree, of my own copyrighted design. Created in my tiny studio in upstate NY. Each drawing is made with graphite pencil on Strathmore Bristol and takes between 10 - 30 hours of drawing time. No two are alike as each is lovingly designed for that particular family.
Why should I support this project?
Because we have all looked for a gift that was unique and meaningful. Often times for the older generations in our families...parents and grandparents, for whom you just don't want to buy any more "stuff". That is what inspired me to create this family tree....as a gift for my own-mother-in-law, many years ago. This piece of art highlights the special memories, people and places that really mean something to them.
The drawing features:

Why a Kickstarter campaign?
I've been drawing for as long as I can remember and find my greatest inspiration in nature. Trees have long been one of my favorites, which is why I have included some as rewards. I am both a schooled and self-taught artist, but there was a time where I didn't create any artwork for 15 years, while pursuing other career interests. Since starting the business in 2012, I've spent every available moment in the studio fine-tuning my skills, brainstorming new ideas and educating my self on marketing an art-based business. I am either working on this business or that of my fine artwork, but it is always about bettering the quality of my products.
Little by little, my business has grown organically, through word-of-mouth and Etsy. The funds from this campaign will help expand my reach to larger markets, in the form of online and print advertising. Anything beyond the goal would contribute to shipping and drawing supplies.

Although some people think these are JUST tree drawings with lots of things on it, you have to remember that all of those "things" are someone's memories. And when they are all brought together into one piece of art, the memories tend to come flooding back. One of the best things I can hear is that the tree made them cry, because then I know I did my job. It's heartwarming and rewarding to create something that meaningful.
