Two years ago, we started Mochibrand to revolutionize the drawstring backpack. With your support, we made a small history for a humble drawstring backpack with big innovations here on Kickstarter. Truly disruptive by design, we believe Mochibags are the best drawstring backpacks that solved the issue of uneven cords and hard to open bags. Now, we are back to launch our latest work, The All New EXPEDITION EDITION Mochibag, exclusively through the Kickstarter Community.

We spent the past 2 years building our team, perfecting our design and craft, incorporating feedback from our thousands of awesome backers and customers. Every change, big and small, had to be done with a useful purpose in mind while staying true to form and to its core benefits – lightweight, collapsible, drawstring backpack.

INNOVATION

We created a three point compression lid for keeping things tight when needed. It also provides much needed protection from the top against the elements while keeping the shape of the bag in balance. The compression lid is integrated with the new Center O-Ring, and stays perfectly centered and close to the main panel at all times, even during opening and closing. The Center O-Ring is located at the strongest load bearing point, creating an approximate center of mass when backpack is loaded and compressed.

The compression lid is made with 100% circular knit nylon fabric with treated backing, and layered with Cordura panel on the other side. This anti-static fabric material will resist stains, mold, mildew, dust, lint, and dirt, and will not fray. It's semi-rigid, which adds structure and texture element to the bag, and is hook compatible. Yes, velcro patches.

INSPIRATION AND DESIGN

For the newly designed EXPEDITION EDITION, we wanted a purpose built, good looking compression lid, that would work seamlessly with the rest of the bag. We drew our design inspiration from a utilitarian Jeep and its Bimini top for the effortless good looks that come from pure function. The EXPEDITION EDITION with the compression lid works and looks amazing.

PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT

Our development goal was simple. It had to be aligned with our mission - Design the most innovative, the best looking, and the hardest working drawstring backpacks in the world.

The EXPEDITION EDITION Mochibag is the most advanced drawstring backpack designed to enhance every user experience associated with drawstring type backpacks. Never, have this many functional features and details been so obsessively put together in a drawstring backpack.

PRODUCTION AND FULFILLMENT

We have been coordinating production and delivery for over two years, sourcing parts and sub-assemblies, manufacturing final products, and managing our own fulfillment at our plant. Our streamlined process does not involve any third-party warehouses or fulfillment centers, and we expect to deliver smoothly working with our shipping partners.

We will be laser focused on executing on our materials requirements planning and excellence in manufacturing and fulfillment, and delivering transparent and timely project communication that you would expect from a Kickstarter veteran throughout the process.

• 6 / 2015 – TRIGGER SOURCING – 15 days
• 7 / 2015 – TRIGGER SUB-ASSEMBLIES – 45 days

• 9 / 2015 – FINAL INSPECTION AND SHIPPING
