The BackerClub is great. I want to know your idea about receiving emails/notifications about campaigns where the creator is from the same country as you OR same state/city.
Why? Because you might be willing to support or support more someone in your area right?
Example: As Belgian, I'd be happy to give 1 USD/EUR or more to any project made by a Belgian to help him towards his goal. Also, happy to share the campaign on my networks.
Benefits:
* Happy to help a fellow citizen
* Perhaps I actually know the person or want to get even more involved, drive to his/her place and discuss the project.
I have no problem to allow a site to push to fellow citizens by email that I backed project ABC from a local/national citizen. His/her success makes the person happy, his family, entourage, and might create business value good for everyone.
So why not to give a little hand or a couple of dollars!
With KS and Facebook, I can only know what my friends backed ONLY if they linked their account.
I'd like to have a site or receive via email, once per week, all projects BELGIANS backed heavily without searching for it.
WELCOME to discuss this idea of an organization (who? a new company? a new service?) who'd be able to know that info about "local" backers/creators and push info to us. Your thoughts?

Decent idea, couple observations:
This is going to lend itself to certain types of projects like: food, art, theater, film, music. Would be much more interested in keeping tabs on local projects of those types for direct support. Would love to support a food truck in my area - elsewhere, not so much. For design/technology projects - don't care so much where they come from.
Going to have to add value - you can already search by location in KS. Not clear that the stated benefits are enough to move people to a site like this.
If it does take off - going to need lots of help for various areas and interests. Something like the Field Agents from Atlas Obscura would be a help.

Yes.
Love the idea of supporting a food truck or local shop indeed.
I actually emailed a guy who is crowdfunding now for a bar based on the band "DEPECHE MODE". I told him his perks were way to high. And suggested a perk like a 50 or 100 EUR bar tab credit with a 10% discount or so). Easy to handle and guaranteed that once the tab/coupon is up, people would buy more at regular price.
