Vanity URL ???

Newbie here, computer illiterate too. What is this, what does it change and why can't it be undone ?
I'm going to assume you are talking Kickstarter. It lets you set your profile to be a word instead of numbers. I keep meaning to change mine.
Right now my Kickstarter profile URL is: https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/479254504
If I were to do a vanity URL it would probably look like https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/TashaTurner (easy for people to remember and find)
You can't undo it because Kickstarter makes the rules and they say once you've taken a vanity URL you're stuck with it.
