How do you support projects?

I was browsing the projects that are Backer Club and backing quite a few tonight when I noticed that I found quite disappointing. Many of the projects are backed by less than a handful of members. Looking at the stats on the forums there are over 1800 member which means most projects are being backed by less than .5% of the membership.

What I am wondering is, what do you do to promote projects. those that you back but especially those on Backer Club?

On projects I have an interest in either for my own use or as a gift I back, frequently I comment, share on Twitter and FB, sometimes add it to the category forum here on the club, if I think the creator could use advice I'll either add advice on their project page here or contact them through PM on Kickstarter. Sometimes I'll email or talk to someone in person.

Thanks for the reply Tasha, I am disappointed that no one else cares to add their input.

I figured I should share what I do. I have backed 49 projects that are on Backer Club and have over 50 people following my KS profile through facebook. I share projects through facebook and twitter and comment on projects and updates when I can. Certain projects are also shared through my IcePack Games social media accounts as well. I am starting a podcast by the end of the month that will have briefs for tabletop games across several crowdfunding sites as well as reviews.

Oh I forgot about the people who follow me on Kickstarter. My husband occasionally backs a project also and shares it if I think his followers & friends would be interested. I'll back projects he's backed for the same reason and because I have a wider reach.

While this doesn't help the project at the time I gift many of the books and games I get which gets those more visibility than if I kept them.

With books I keep the ebook and try to review it and may pick it up from regular sales channels when it's on sale making it easier for me to mark it as to be read (TBR), currently reading, read, stars on Goodreads and Amazon as well as leave a review and of course buying it helps its sales stats. So it may go through my review process twice.

I'm not a big gamer but many of my friends are and have groups of friends they game with. By giving games to them I feel sure the game will get played by others - or given to others until it finds a good home - and through them get talked about or even brought to cons. I'm not sure if any have a gaming blog but most use LiveJournal or personal blogs and a reasonable number of friends with similar interests follow.

The projects that Backer Club chooses to support are a broad spectrum of likes from all types of people. It is not likely that I am going to back a project that I don't have a personal interest in. Some are just too eclectic for my tastes and others seem to be reduncant or lacking significant value. Those that interest me I back, those that don't I would sooner lend my support to projects of more interest.

In addition to money Toren wondered what else we do to support projects. Care to share ideas with us about what else you do to support projects? Do you do other things to support projects you give money?

When I have time I will be active in a projects comments both main comment page and updates comments. I will share ideas directly with creators. I have posted a lot on Facebook however I am being more choosy about which projects make it there as many of my friends are sick of me posting them. Sometimes I will share with a select group who I think would be more interested or email links to friends. The latter is particularly true for games and games related where I will share via email with my gaming group. I will try to answer questions from other backers and the creator and participate in surveys. I have also brought some non BC projects to the awareness of club members. Though to be honest some times I just don't have the time and energy to do as much as I'd like.

I have recently started using the comments on BC project pages more, I was doing that for prelaunch but not really for current KS projects. Now I am.
