I know one creator who was very happy to have been put on Backer Club, he went from short of funding to funded due to an influx from members here.

Oh well, live and learn I guess.

Katrina, ugh on it being # of messages. It happens occasionally. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I'm not surprised at all. Imagine things from a creator's perspective: Some person comes along and says "Hey, you give us some free goodies and we can help you market your project"? If I don't know what you were talking about, hell, I'd probably report it too.

Try to be aware of perspectives other than your own.

Katrina

Thanks for sharing with us. Sorry you are suspended for the weekend that has to be frustrating. If a creator reported you I can understand them looking into your messages and account, but an automatic suspension that requires you to take the first action seems harsh, especially if it was based on complaint by a creator. The number cutoff also seems harsh (not knowing the number), but it can't be exorbitant considering you wrote each one.

I wish they took backer complaints and concerns about non-responsive and disappeared creators half as seriously.

good luck. Hope you are able to get back in tomorrow.

Just wondering if there was an update, and what the Kickstarter response was.

Also, can anyone give me a link to the announcement about contacting backers about Backer Club? I have a couple creators that I helped get barely over the funding hump, and I was reluctant to suggest Backer Club because I had no idea about the cost for signing up, how long it takes and what the criteria for being involved is.

The cost to creators has changed a number of times. No clue on how long it takes for a project to get approved, but in my experience of recommending projects which were rejected, 2-5 days. The closest we have to criteria is http://backerclub.co/criteria.php .

You can go to Backerclub.co and walk through the steps as a creator to see what a potential creator sees. I've found it interesting to do so. The information changes as does the cost. I've walked through it 2-3 times in the last month and stuff has been different each time.

Just a backer. Founders drop by occasionally. If you have questions for them it's best to click help (upper left) and use the "contact us" link.

Sorry I wasn't around in forums much for a while and did not come back and update people. I think from memory I was suspended for just over a week and it took saying three times "I will not spam" (even though I did not) to reach resolution.

The person I was dealing with seemed to be following a set spiel and unless you followed along precisely and used the wording she wanted then there was no progress.

While some of the messages mentioned the idea of looking at BackerClub to see if it was a good fit for them the rest were all over the place regarding content. It seems like it really was a numbers thing. I was ignored when I asked if there had been a complaint. I received no information at all except a copy of KS policies.

I really do support them not allowing spam and following up on suspicions. I suspect that manpower may be an issue regarding how well they can look into individual cases but it still sucked. It has also significantly reduced my willingness to communicate with creators (most of whom seemed truly appreciative) directly. There are some questions I'd rather ask discreetly rather than on their page but now I hesitate.

I have followed Tasha's example of having links in my profile and have had a few creators contact me just because of the high number of projects I have backed.

We live and learn, no system is perfect, in the end I am still spending time and money too fast because of KS.

Thanks for the update.

My inbox on KS is beyond my ability to find anything within the last month easily. Going to sent is a little easier but if I keep talking with creators it's going to be useless soon.

For the most part the only links I share are to other Kickstarter projects.

I now rarely contact a creator until I've made several comments on their project and have tweeted/shared their project.

I'm still backing too many projects and don't want to chance getting "suspended". In good news 2 projects I helped have funded. Another creator is getting ready to run a new project. Yet another creator who I've backed a 3 projects has decided to start having me preview the next project to prevent having tons of questions come up during his campaigns so the backers can have a smoother experience.

Sounds like you are receiving some of the recognition and appreciation you deserve Miss Tasha. Glad to hear it.
