Here are a couple card games I'm backing at the moment:
Amino
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cg ... -card-game : Collect molecules for the best atmosphere to make amino acids! Great for both game nights and classrooms. 3-6 players, 30-45 minutes.
Schroeder's cats
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/59 ... ngers-cats : Schrödinger’s Cats is a pseudo-scientific card game of strategic uncertainty. WHAT'S IN THE BOX??

Black Blocks: A Game about Being Black in America
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/20 ... in-america :
A hilariously relevant game about being Black in a "colorblind" society.
Have you ever noticed how quiet people become when the topic of race comes up? Have you ever been in a situation where you've had to ask yourself, "Was that racist?"? Black Blocks is a card game that uses the power of laughter and short-storytelling to start deeper conversations about the subjects we tend to avoid most. Black Blocks shines a spotlight on the subtly racist elephant in the room, and invites you to join in on the conversation.

I'm not usually into card games anymore but these caught my eye. I used to play more when I lived in MA.

Here's another card game, called
Entropy. It's cheap and it looks great.
From the project:
Entropy is a fast-paced competitive card game of risk and deception, combining simultaneous action selection mechanics with order resolution.
Each player's reality has been shattered into fragments and they are trying to be the first to piece it back together in order to save their world and return home.

Here's another really neat card game called
Project Dreamscape. At first I thought it was just a pretty deck of cards, but then I watched the
game runthru by Rahdo and
his final thoughts, and I saw that there was a lot of goodness under that pretty facade. There is even an official unofficial set of solo rules posted to BGG by the designers. One of the unannounced stretch goals is to add the solo rules to the official rules and add a few substitute cards to support solo play.
