Prior to joining backer club I thought I was one of the few people addicted to backing Kickstarter projects I've backed a total of 161 projects to date. I'm having problems with linking at the moment - I'm sure I'll figure it out soon.
The 1st successful project I backed was hoot & challah back in March, 2012. I co-ran an unsuccessful Kickstarter "Escape" in Starr Falls back in November of 2011. I think I've learned a lot from being on both sides. I also back Indiegogo projects although not as frequently - their interface is not as friendly.
I'm fairly eclectic in what I back. I've backed projects as gifts for my nephews, projects friends are running, technology, kitchen stuff, aimed at geeks, books to donate to libraries or librarians/teachers, diversity and projects aimed at helping girls, women, minorities, LGBT, etc. is probably the biggest theme running through my backing decisions.
I up my pledges as projects are having a hard time reaching goals or stretch goals. I share on twitter and have a few friends who regularly share "Kickstarter" tweets. I used to share more on FB but lately I've been less active on social media.
Back in March 2012 I was in a car accident - an 18-wheel truck hit my car. It's caused ongoing health issues limiting how much time I can spend online and what I can do when I am online. Kickstarter lets me feel like I'm a part of something big.
I'm looking forward to meeting more people committed to helping entrepreneurs and indies succeed. I love this new world we live in where each one of us can make a difference.

You are way ahead of me Tasha. I am still three star and progressing. Budget makes it difficult to do as much as I'd like and I really did not appreciate the importance to projects (or know how it would affect my ranking here) to make those $1 pledges, so a lot of my early want to back projects were left untouched because I could not back at a higher level.
You and I seem to be the current chatter boxes, though I think I ranked 4th highest in number of posts when I looked through the membership list. Any idea how we can engage more members in active discussion?
Thanks for letting us know how to find out those stats. I am still learning the ins and outs of this forum.

Lobster helped me with the $1 pledging. I try to back most Backerclub projects which moved me through the ranks.
I'm not sure how to involve those ~1200 members in the forums more. Below are a few ideas.
1. Possibly talking about each Backerclub project as well as individual projects we are backing?
2. Doing more in the off-topic - ways to get to know each other type topics
3. In the Kickstarter forum try some topics like: what products/games/etc. have you used the most from Kickstarter? Which projects have your friends asked you about after they've seen your rewards? What's been the most fun campaign you've participated in & why?
4. In the Backerclub forum: Why did you join Backerclub? What topics would be of interest to you? Why don't you share projects your backing in the Kickstarter forum?
In most groups I'm know as the conversation ender rather than starter. I tend to summarize a situation or pull in facts and links and that's it for discussions. Others have used my suggestions and found them to work. So maybe it's me. LOL

I don't back every BackerClub project however I have backed most since I joined (and a few before I joined).

Between doing more $1 pledges and backing many (not all) Backerclub projects I've moved through the ranks much faster than I expected. So many interesting projects I never would have heard of as they are outside my normal search/interest. My color wheel is even more varied than it was when I joined the club.

I was surprised how many categories I had already backed when I discovered the colour wheel. I have added two more since then. Shouldn't be long before I have them all coloured.

Hello
I think it would be interesting to read and post about active projects that members of the club are very interested in and/or creators that members support for one reason or another. Basically, get more project based conversations started. I would like to get to know the community too, but it might best be done through discussing what we all have most in common, KickStarter.

Fun with numbers.
When I joined the group in October I had backed 161 projects.
Tonight I backed my 161st BackerClub project
I've Backed 643 projects on Kickstarter. I do wish more had been $1 or $5 projects. I'm still working on that. It's funny how strongly I defend those $1 or $5 pledges while I'm still learning how to back at that level.
Thanks all for helping me find so many cool projects to back. My friends, family, local library, and soon some hospitals say thanks too. The perks are great. I love opening packages and putting the stuff in bags/boxes for people when I next see them. Maybe this year I'll learn how to mail packages.
